Numerous bloggers and specialized media say that the front-facing camera in new iPhones has begun to “improve” faces, although Apple has not warned about this, writes Tjournal.

One of the first to unexpectedly update camera capabilities complained Reddit users. They noted that a “beauty filter” was built into the smartphone, which very much smoothes the skin and cannot be turned off.

Users came to the conclusion that Apple acted dishonestly, without telling about the function in advance and not allowing it to be configured. Some also noted that the filter turns the skin of white people into orange.

The "filter" looks damn awful. It looks like someone's bad attempt to zaphotoshopit "brush", without having the slightest idea about how this is done. Hint: European skin does not look orange. My [iphone] constantly makes me look like characters from Sims.

Many compared effect with a snapshot filter that smoothes the skin. One user said that every time it looks silly when the camera application opens.

Edition Business Insider called this effect "beautygate" by analogy with other problems (bendgate, antennagate) that happened to iPhones during launch.
