Owners of iPhones do not know to whom the phone will send a message

New feature iOS 12 is designed to sort messages. But the novelty leads to unexpected consequences for users who share their Apple ID with the family.

Users on forums report that their messages intended for only one person are sent, for example, to both their husband and child or their mother and sister thanks to such mergers, writes "New time«.

This was intended to combine chats that you had with those iOS device users who have multiple phone numbers and email addresses. A popular example is, for example, several chats with a friend from work based on his personal phone number and work email.

However, messages sent to third parties may well be a disaster because of gossip among colleagues or, for example, due to family problems. In most cases, if not all, users with a similar problem seem to be in immediate family relationships.

It does not look like we are dealing with an error, but this is a consequence of the fact that Apple does not take into account that its customers have used new features unintentionally. It is assumed that each person has their own Apple ID and, in theory, the contacts united by Apple ID should belong to the same person.

Judging by the many cases in the Apple support communities, families seem to have shared Apple IDs to shop on the App Store or monitor children's activities. And although commentators say that the solution to the problem is simply to set up separate Apple IDs for each family member, but for those whose chats are already merged, this does not work.

Another problem with merged chat rooms is that there seems to be no way to manually divide contacts in Messenger once iOS 12 mistakenly merges them.
