Supreme Court Decides Fate of California Asylum State for Illegal
The Supreme Court has decided on the Trump administration's request to review California's sanctuary state law, writes CNN.
On Monday, June 15, the Supreme Court upheld a lower court ruling supporting one of California’s so-called asylum laws.
The law restricts cooperation between law enforcement and federal immigration authorities, and this measure, according to the Trump administration, is designed to “undermine” the federal immigration system.
The Trump administration asked the court to enter and review the law, and the court refused to do so.
Judges Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, two of the conservative members of the Court, supported the trial.

The law — and others like it — have fueled a storm between the federal government, which has made immigration enforcement a top priority, and some states, which say they have the right to determine how best to use their own resources.
In a speech to Congress in January, President Donald Trump regretted California's efforts, which he called "outrageous law."
