Eternal vacation: cruise ship sells apartments for those who want to live on a ship and enjoy travel

When Storylines' first residential cruise ship is launched in 2024, it will have 547 fully-furnished accommodations available for purchase by travelers who would like to live, work and play while exploring the world. Most of the one to four bedroom apartments, ranging from 22 to 180 square meters, have balconies and can be decorated in a coastal or contemporary style. While onboard residences range from $1 million to $8 million, there are also a number of homes available for as little as $400 on leases ranging from 000 to 12 years.

And like all high-end cruise ships, the 225m long and 30m wide MV Narrative will feature a host of amenities to keep homeowners busy.

Three swimming pools with sun terraces ensure that guests can get plenty of vitamin D, while an outdoor jogging track, gym, yoga studio and golf simulators will be appreciated by sports and training enthusiasts. Because health is a central part of the community's experience and values, the onboard medical clinic will offer a list of wellness services including weight loss, anti-aging, immune therapies, detoxification and nutrition planning. The ship even has a pet activity area, so four-legged passengers can also stay active and healthy.

And with 20 restaurants and bars, gourmets can be sure that all their culinary needs and preferences will be satisfied. The ship also has its own microbrewery and a soilless garden with solar panels that will supply its eateries with fresh ingredients and craft beer. There will also be a non-waste farmers' market where you can buy local products. Other entertainment on board includes a library, marina, cinema, art studio and bowling alley. The ship runs on liquefied gas, which is more environmentally friendly than conventional fuel.

“Many people love to travel around the world, but they don't like logistics, planning, air travel, jet lag, and life on a suitcase. At the end of a long day of discovering a new exotic location, they can return home to friends and familiar surroundings and sleep in their own bed,” Storylines co-founder Shannon Lee wrote in an email.

Of course, being part of the cruising community is mostly about traveling and getting to know the world. The ship's three-year journey, which will begin in 2024, includes all six continents. Residents will have several days to explore each destination and fully immerse themselves in the local culture.
