Locals simply call it “DC” (District of Columbia) and rarely - Washington. If they make a Hollywood film about politics, the US capital will definitely appear in it. This city is too different to give it a single definition: the center does not resemble the historical districts, and the suburbs resemble cozy European towns.

The first thing every tourist, of course, goes to look at the White House. And here, most likely, disappointment awaits him. The president's residence is far behind the fence, surrounded by tourists. It’s difficult to get inside on an excursion; you need to sign up almost six months in advance and get a recommendation from a senator or congressman. Therefore, one or two photos - and the maximum program has been completed here.

If you explore the city center further, at some point you may feel like you have already been here. All around are similar huge concrete buildings with columns. Wide avenues are very reminiscent of Kharkov or Dnieper. Only it's cleaner here.

But you can get to the Capitol, where the two houses of Congress - the American Parliament - meet without any problems. They will even give you a free tour and show you how to get through the underground tunnel to the Library of Congress. They also don’t charge money to enter.

And in general, in terms of tourism, Washington is very profitable for tourists. Almost all museums are free, and most of them are located next to each other. You look at the planes and rockets, go to the art gallery, and then go look at the dinosaur skeleton at the Natural History Museum - across the street.

But the heart of Washington is still Georgetown - the oldest part of the city. No concrete! All in colonial style, with mini gardens at the porch. The famous Frank Underwood from the Card House series should be around here somewhere.

Between the neat houses is Georgetown University, the main building of which is very similar to the Hogwarts of Harry Potter.

And the embassy of Ukraine is located on the main street of the district. The building is historical, because it was there that the first president of the United States, George Washington, once gathered landowners and asked for land to create the capital of America. The city of Washington turned out to be small, between two states - Maryland and Virginia.

You should not count on a vibrant nightlife and parties in Georgetown. Finishing tourist day is better in the park "Greveli Point".

It is located right next to the runway of Reagan Airport, and the planes above you will fly so low that you have to hold your breath for a couple of seconds. From delight.
