Washington revises policy on Ukraine
The US is reviewing its policy towards Ukraine. In turn, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is exploring opportunities for more active US cooperation in the Donbas negotiation process. This was reported by the US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, UNIAN.
“I think we are reviewing our policy towards Ukraine, and I think we are moving forward in a very positive and decisive manner. Obviously the situation in the east is an important part of this and we want to provide support as much as possible. Secretary Tillerson is carefully exploring all possibilities,” Yovanovitch emphasized.
However, she did not disclose the details.
Recall earlier building The Washington Post wrote that the administration of US President Donald Trump intends to restart negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine. It is possible that the question of Ukraine could be for Tillerson the beginning of the implementation of the previously failed plan to improve US-Russian relations.
It was also reported that Tillerson plans to appoint a special envoy to the State Department responsible for new efforts in Ukraine’s issues.
