Washington hopes to accelerate dialogue on Iran’s nuclear program
US Secretary of State John Kerry will meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif on Wednesday to discuss the progress of international negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program.
During his visit to India on Monday, Kerry expressed the hope that the negotiations in Geneva would allow him and Zarif to "speed up the process to achieve greater progress."
Iran and a group of six states, which includes the United States, Britain, China, France, Russia and Germany, have been trying for over a year to reach a long-term agreement to lift sanctions in exchange for Iran’s guarantees that it will not seek to develop nuclear weapons. Tehran constantly insists that its program is peaceful.
The negotiations of representatives of the lower level will begin on Thursday.
The parties have set a goal - to reach an agreement by July 1, after previous attempts to resolve the differences have been unsuccessful, and it was decided to extend the negotiations, writes AmericaRu.com
