In Washington, Poroshenko increased the protection of the shooting on Capitol Hill

Strengthening security measures after the shooting at the Capitol complex led to limited access to the speech of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the organizers of the Ukrainian Forum in Washington said.

The forum will be held at the visitor center on Capitol Hill on Wednesday. Poroshenko should speak there in the evening.

It was originally planned that part of the public may be during his speech in the hall for special invitations, and all others will watch it on the monitor in an additional audience. However, after the shooting, which occurred in the center on Monday, security measures were tightened there.

“Due to new security concerns at the Capitol Hill Visitor Center, we will no longer be able to accommodate as many people as previously planned in the additional auditorium. Only ticket holders will be able to attend or watch the performance. We regret to inform you that you will not be able to see or hear President Poroshenko’s speech on Wednesday evening,” said John Kuhn, vice president of the US-Ukraine Foundation, which organizes the forum.

According to the program, the forum is attended mainly by former American politicians, as well as public figures and businessmen. Its meetings are devoted to such topics as “The Human Cost of the War in Ukraine”, “Economic Development and Reconstruction of Ukraine”, “From Budapest to Minsk and Beyond”.

As wrote earlier ForumDaily, law enforcement in Washington were raised on Monday after an alarm, after an armed man tried to get into the building of the visitor center of the United States Congress. Despite the fact that the police officers on duty at the entrance managed to quickly neutralize the man by using firearms, the whole complex of congress buildings was blocked.
