In the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan, scammers convicted that they promised to find a local resident who wanted to move to the United States, a bride who won a green card, for $ 7 thousand.

It all started with the fact that a resident of Ishtykhan district, who gathered in the United States, asked a friend to find a bridal dowry in the form of a green card for his son. With the help of an accomplice, he found a suitable girl in Payarik district of the Samarkand region. For this, dealers demanded $ 7 thousand.
A document in English was handed over to the groom's parents, proving that the girl really won the green card. After that, the mediators received their money.
However, after the wedding, it turned out that the document was a fake. The deceived customer appealed to the court, and during the proceedings the defendants pleaded guilty. They were convicted under the article "Fraud". What punishment the court imposed on criminals — a fine or imprisonment — was not specified. About the fate of the deceived newlyweds is also not reported.
The Green Card Lottery gives you the opportunity to obtain a residence permit in the United States. Although participation in it is free, there are intermediaries in Uzbekistan who help citizens fill out application forms for participation in the lottery for money, and if they win, they are rewarded for accessing the applicant's number and helping them to complete the following steps.
