Shooting at the University of Virginia: three dead, two injured
A shooting at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville canceled classes on November 14 as law enforcement searches the grounds and neighborhoods for suspected murderer of student Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. FoxNews.
In a message to the community in the early hours of November 14, UVA President Jim Ryan provided an update on the numerous public safety alerts sent out after 22:30 p.m. As a result of the shooting, three people were killed and two were injured.

Ryan, while confirming that Jones Jr. is a UVA student, said the suspect remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Jones, a former UVA football player, is described by police as a black man who was last seen wearing a burgundy jacket or hoodie, blue jeans and red shoes. He may be driving a black SUV with a Virginia TWX3580 license plate.
“Multiple law enforcement agencies are coordinating their efforts to locate and apprehend him,” Ryan said. “At the time of writing, I am heartbroken to report that three people have died as a result of the shooting and two others have been injured and are currently receiving medical attention.” We are working with the families of the victims and will share more information as soon as we receive it.”
“I am devastated that this violence took place at the University of Virginia,” Ryan added. “The victims, their families and everyone in the University of Virginia community are in my heart today, and we will plan to come together as a community to mourn once the suspect is in custody.”
The shooting was initially reported around 22:30 pm on November 13, when shots rang out in Culbreth's garage.

Shortly thereafter, it was announced across campus that the suspect was at large, and all people at UVA were ordered to take cover on the spot. University police said they were looking for Jones in connection with the shooting.
Anyone who sees Jones is asked to call 911 immediately and stay away from him.
UVA's alert, issued before 7:30 a.m. Nov. 14, said law enforcement was continuing to search in and around the school grounds. “Remain sheltered in place,” the warning read. “Expect an increased law enforcement presence.”

Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs Robin S. Hadley said Nov. 14 that she was in a dire situation "like so many of you."
“I am sheltering in place and in direct communication with university leadership and UPD,” the message said. “Please take seriously the message to remain in shelter as the situation remains active.” The suspect is armed and dangerous. If you are not inside and safe, seek a safe place immediately.”
