The actor was photographed for the 1932 photo “Lunch at the Skyscraper”.

The textbook was released in 2018. It is recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The author of the textbook is Igor Shchupak, Ph.D. (Hist.), Director of the Tkuma Institute for Holocaust Studies in Ukraine and director of the Museum of the Jewish People and the Holocaust in Ukraine.

According to Obozrevatel, a meme with Keanu Reeves appeared in 2010. The actor was photographed when he was eating a sandwich on a park bench. The photo symbolizes sadness and is used to show that even the rich and famous have their own problems.

Textbook author Igor Schupak in Facebook explained why the school textbook depicts a meme rather than the original photo. The designer of the book offered the author a photograph supplemented by Keanu Reeves. Schupak suggested leaving the picture and thus wanted to check the students for attentiveness.

“I remembered how in the late 1990s, in one textbook there was a portrait of Octavian Augustus with the signature “Julius Caesar.” Over the many years of using the book, zero readers noticed this and wrote about it,” explained the author of the textbook.
