Ukraine celebrated the fourth anniversary of the shooting on the Maidan: photo essay
February 20 in Kiev celebrated the fourth anniversary of the shooting of Euromaidan activists during the Revolution of Dignity in 2014 year.
People en masse bring flowers, candles and lamps to the memorial on the Alley of Heroes of Heavenly Hundreds (formerly Institutskaya Street) to commemorate the victims, reports Ukrinfrom.
It was attended by several dozen activists who decorated the trees on the street with white paper figures depicting angels.
Also, angels hung between the trees on the street.
Activists sang songs near the portraits of the dead heroes.
We collected touching photos from the scene.
The memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundreds was honored also by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and his wife. 20 February, they came with candles to the Cross on the Alley of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundreds and worshiped the dead, spokesman for the head of Ukraine Svyatoslav Tsegolko said in his microblog Twitter.
Facebook.
According to him, the dead on the Maidan became a model for the next generations.
Immediately after the revolution, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia began. For four years of confrontation, according to the portal Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy by MFA, about 11 000 Ukrainians died, more than 25000 were injured, almost 2 million people were forced to leave their homes.
Also on the page it is noted that violations of human rights and persecution of Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar activists continue in Crimea.
