In Ukraine, fraudsters gave stolen money to children with cancer
In Lviv, fraudsters withdrew several million hryvnia from a bank customer’s account. And a part of the money was transferred to the aid of children with cancer.
Literally for two operations on the accounts of the fund for assistance to children with cancer, 550 thousand hryvnia appeared. This amount has not been transferred to philanthropists during the whole period of the foundation’s existence. Uneasy suspected bank employees.
“He objected, said that his card was stolen and carried out operations without his knowledge. It can be seen that the fraudsters somehow lured this information out of him, or there was a pin-code on the card, ”said Peter Kharkaviy, deputy head of the bank’s security department.
The money that the fraudsters transferred to charity, could get to the Lviv clinic, where 60 cancer patients are saved every year.
The half a million that stole Lviv's “Robin Hoods” would be just enough to save one life.
“You can cure one cancer patient (this is half the cost of an X-ray machine), buy a good device for artificial ventilation of the lungs, buy other devices, monitors,” said Zinovy Ivaskevich, deputy head doctor of the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children's Medical Center.
However, the stolen half million never got to the oncology center. The bank returned the money to the client. At the moment, law enforcement officers are investigating fraud.
