In Texas, an armed man killed five people and shot at police officers

There was a shooting in Texas, as a result of which 5 people were killed. The incident occurred around 07:30 on September 29 in a residential area in McGregor. The gunman then fired at police officers who arrived at the scene, Mayor Jimmy Gering said. Read more about the shootout told the publication ABC News.

The officers returned fire, but Göring did not say if the gunner had been wounded. 

However, the Texas Department of Public Safety said the suspect was captured alive.

“No motives, relationships or other details are known, and the police are not revealing the identity of the victims until they notify relatives,” said Sgt. Ryan Howard.

McGregor's Independent School District released a statement saying it has sent counselors to all campuses. 

"In light of today's events and out of respect for the victims, all events have been cancelled," the county said in a statement.

In addition, the nearby Troy Independent School District announced on their social media, "All football games canceled due to the tragic shooting in the McGregor community. Our thoughts and prayers go to them."
