More than 100 cars collided in Texas: dozens of people injured, six killed

The crash on I-35 on Thursday morning, February 11, involved more than 100 vehicles and several people were trapped. As of Friday morning, February 12, rescuers are still looking for survivors under the rubble, writes 6ABC.

According to the authorities, sixty-five people were injured, 36 were taken from the scene of the incident, which stretched nearly 1 mile (1,6 km), to hospitals. Among them, three were in critical condition, writes ABC News.
Police said that most of the victims received medical assistance on the spot, but some of them left the crash site on their own and later went to medical facilities.

Fort Worth police said the accident was likely caused by difficult weather conditions. Freezing rain made roads in the Fort Worth area slippery.
Several decades have passed since the three deadliest accidents in U.S. history:
- On May 14, 1988, a drunk driver killed 27 people, including 24 children, near Carrollton, Kentucky.
- On December 11, 1990, fog caused an accident on Highway 75 in Calhoun, Tennessee, which killed 12 people.
- On November 29, 1991, a blinding dust storm crashed Highway 5 near Coaling, California, killing 17 people.
