In Texas, the annual amount of snow can fall in a day: a strong storm is approaching the state
Very heavy snowfall is expected in Texas starting with Thanksgiving. There may be a seasonal amount of snow in one day, according to Newsweek.
North Texas receives an average of 43 cm of snow during the winter season, according to the National Weather Service. And one forecast model shows that the storm will bring up to 60 cm of snow on Amarillo and 30 to 45 cm in the surrounding areas. Meteorologists expect the storm to disrupt travel over Thanksgiving and the two following days after the holiday.

AccuWeather senior meteorologist Joe Lundberg said the forecast for heavy snow by Texas standards is "unusual for the state."
According to the National Weather Service, the earliest snowfall was recorded as early as late September and early May in Texas, but the typical potential snowfall season is from November to March. According to the service, it happens that snowfalls bring 1 or 2 cm of snow in some areas.
But a looming storm this year could snow heavily on Texas as temperatures drop just enough to freeze the rain. Other southeastern areas, such as Dallas, will be warm enough to keep the rain from freezing.
Lundberg said this snowfall could be worse than the storms in February 2021, which hit Texas with major power outages. They caused infrastructure failure, leading to shortages of food, water and energy, killing hundreds of people.
Lundberg suggests that Thanksgiving travelers should postpone their trip home until Saturday evening or afternoon if possible.
Lundberg expects local street services to be properly prepared for the storm. The snow should melt over the weekend when temperatures return to above zero.
“Texas does get storms like this, but they don't happen often,” he said. “It may take several days before everything is completely cleared.”

Weather Channel meteorologist Alex Wallace tweeted several models on November 22 that predict the path and strength of the storm.
“Likely big snowfall in the Texas Panhandle during the Thanksgiving holiday,” Wallace tweeted. He added that a record amount of snow could fall.
As ForumDaily wrote earlier:
- Texas was most affected state when a deadly storm hit the US in 2021. Then the storm led not only to drifts and massive power outages, but also to the flooding of many homes. Without electricity, and therefore without heating, pipes froze and burst, causing the homes of some Texans to literally flood with water. Of deathcaused by the storm were reported in Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky, North Carolina and Missouri.
