In Texas, malnourished children are found locked up in a dog cage.
Four malnourished children - aged five and under - were found by police in a Texas home, two of the kids in a locked dog crate.
Three boys aged 5, 3 and 1 of the year, as well as a 4-year-old girl, were found when policemen arrived on a call with a message about unrest in a house near the town of Roma, Texas, writes Fox News.
Officers were speaking with a man and woman inside the home when a child's screams were heard coming from the barn. The woman is the mother of all four children, and the man is the father of one of them.
24-year-old Andrew Joseph Fabila and 24-year-old Paige Isabou Harkings were accused of endangering the lives of children under aggravating circumstances. They are held in Weiss County Prison.
The children were in the barn, the two elders were in a cage the size of 3 by 3 feet (91 by 91 cm). Younger children were dirty and poorly dressed.
All the kids were hungry and dehydrated, despite the fact that the house had enough food stocks.
“There was a lot of food in the barn, but the refrigerator and cupboards were locked, so the children could not take food,” a police spokesman said.
All four children were taken to the medical center for examination.
