In Texas prison two thousand prisoners staged a riot
Over two days in prison in the American city of Raymondville, Texas, for nearly two days, protested against the poor quality of medical care. Reported by Reuters.
The law enforcement agencies, together with the prison staff, practically managed to bring the situation under control. No one was injured during the riots.
The conflict between jailers and prisoners, the bulk of whom had illegally arrived in the United States from Mexico, began on Friday morning, February 20. Protesters gathered in a pleasure yard and burned several tents that served as prison dwellings.
The guards had to use tear gas to stop the unrest. None of the criminals at the same time failed to escape.
According to the Associated Press, almost 2,8 thousands of prisoners in the prison will be transferred to other correctional facilities.
It is noted that the prisoners complained that they were denied hospitalization, did not provide the necessary medicines, and for a long time, sometimes more than a week, did not provide professional medical care.
