In the US, shot the champion of Russia

РThe Russian snowboarder Dmitry Koltsov was shot dead in the USA by a man he did not know, and entered into a small verbal skirmish. Also unknown tried to kill a friend Koltsov, but he managed to dodge. The murder suspect was detained the next day. It turned out to be a 30-year-old American, who ran away from home with a gun and for some time was listed as missing. Previously, he also had problems with drugs, but the police considered him harmless and quickly stopped searching.

In broad daylight in Los Angeles, a snowboarder Dmitry Koltsov, a former Russian champion who played for the national team since 2007, was shot dead.

31-year-old athlete was walking down the street with a friend, when suddenly entered into a skirmish with an unknown man, who was passing by in a car.

At the moment, it is not known who exactly became the initiator of the conflict, but after a brief conversation on Koltsov they opened fire with a pistol.

According to the LA Times, an athlete died 20 minutes later from his injuries. The news of his death has already been confirmed by the Russian Embassy in the United States.

“The consular department of the embassy clarifies the circumstances of the incident, sent inquiries to the American authorities. We keep in touch with the relatives of Dmitry Koltsov, ”the representative of the embassy RIA Novosti quotes.

In this case, the shooter tried to kill the satellite Koltsov, but he managed to dodge and did not receive any injury.

After that, the aggressor fled the scene, but did not stop criminal acts. After just an hour, the man shot in the back of the head of the unsuspecting Deputy Sheriff, Joseph Solano, when he spent time at a local cafe.

The policeman was not in execution, so nothing betrayed him as a law enforcement representative. There was no form or badge on it.

Doctors fought for his life for two days, but in the end the man passed away.

The motives of the killer in both cases are still unknown. He did not try to rob anyone of the dead.

So the police got on the trail of the killer - they turned out to be 30-year-old Rhett McKinsey Nelson, who two weeks before the incident, 25 in May, left his home in a car and 28 in May was declared missing.

His relatives said that when he left home, Nelson shouted strange words: “I will either do it myself, or die!”

None of the relatives then understood what the man meant. When he did not appear at home for several days, they turned to the police, and they began to search for the young man. However, 5 June in law enforcement decided to stop the search, believing that Rhett in any case will not harm himself or anyone else, and sooner or later will return home.

At the same time it is known that a man had problems with drugs earlier.

So, he was twice arrested because of problems with banned substances, and once he was even caught driving while intoxicated. True, these incidents occurred quite a long time ago - in 2011-12, and the driving episode relates to 2014.

Nelson’s relatives also said that they could not even imagine that he was capable of murder.

“He was never violent. We believed that he was carrying a weapon only for self-defense, said one of the relatives of the accused in an interview with the police.

“As for his strange phrase before leaving, we thought that he only meant that he wanted to achieve independence.”

At the same time, Nelson’s relatives admitted that lately they had begun to suspect something amiss. In particular, they assumed that Rett had a relapse in relations with drugs. 4 June, the family even reported this to the police, but the search for the man was still stopped.

Six days later, Rhett committed two murders. In addition, law enforcement officials suspect that this is not the only case when Nelson broke the law.

Order guards are currently trying to determine whether the killer is related to the armed robberies of supermarkets that occurred in the city of San Diego from 7 to 9 in June.

In all cases, the attacker waited for the night and threatened with a pistol to the seller on duty. Taking away various sums of money in cash, he successfully hid from the police.

Nelson's father, Bradley, has already apologized for what his son did in a public statement.

“Our family is devastated because of the news that Rett made a terrible and senseless attack in Los Angeles. In our opinion, they did everything possible to prevent Rett from harming himself or anyone else, but despite our best efforts, we were unable to find him before he committed this crime, ”the father’s statement says.

In this case, the first court session has already been held. Nelson did not utter a word on it.
