In the United States recorded the spread of superinfections
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released an annual report on the health status of Americans.
According to the document, in 2017, the case of infections caused by bacteria resistant to all or most of the known antibiotics was recorded by 221, writes “Lenta.ru".
Moreover, in hospitals where antibiotic-resistant microbes were found, at least one of the 10 people who had no symptoms of the disease was found to carry at least one superinfection. Thus, healthy people can be hidden carriers of deadly diseases.
The microbes identified have drug immunity genes, and scientists fear that these genes could be transferred to other bacteria.
The CDC recommends that health care providers conduct operational tests on microorganisms suspected of being resistant to antibiotics. In addition, doctors are recommended to focus on identifying those who may become carriers of superinfection, and monitor the condition of patients when they are transferred to other hospitals.
