Unemployment increases in US in September
The unemployment rate in 2016 increased in 4,9% to 5%. This was announced on Friday by the US Department of Labor.
Bloomberg analysts add that unemployment has increased even though the number of jobs has increased. In particular, in September, employers across the country added 156 thousands of jobs.
According to the Department of Labor, the most positions emerged in the services, construction, retail and healthcare sectors. And the average hourly wage increased by 2,6% compared to last year and is $ 25,79.
The average length of the working week also increased - from 34,3 to 34,4 hours. At the same time, employers have significantly expanded the number of temporary employees - analysts record an increase of 23 thousand units. But government agencies at the federal level, as well as state authorities, have cut 11 thousand staff positions.
Among the reasons for such trends, economists surveyed by Bloomberg, called the economic downturn that began last year, as well as the uncertainty in which business stopped on the eve of presidential elections.
