In the US, allowed to rescue children and animals from the car in the sun
The new law in Tennessee legally allows an outsider to damage the vehicle to save the lives of pets left in the car in the sun.
The law applies in sixteen other US states where a citizen is legally protected from lawsuits in such a predicament. Until 1 July, the “Samaritan law” in Tennessee was applicable only to children locked or locked in a car, but now it also applies to pets.
In other words, the new law will protect those who broke windows in the car or damaged locks in order to open the car and save the precious lives of children and / or pets locked inside. However, this does not mean that the rescuer should immediately destroy the car: first he needs to make sure that the car is locked and the child and / or the animal is really in danger.
Sadly, we need laws like this. Children and pets should not be left in cars at all, especially in the scorching sun, when the temperature in the cabin can reach literally lethal levels.
