In the US, herbal supplement provoked an outbreak of salmonellosis

Herbal Supplement Causes Salmonella Disease Outbreak in 20 States kratom, believe in the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States (CDC). Earlier, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that this supplement contains the same chemicals as opioids, writes Miami Herald.

The FDA withdraws from the market and plans to destroy the products of three brands of food additives containing kratom: Botany Bay, Enhance Your Life and Divinity. The company Divinity has promised not to include kratom in their products. The FDA has urged other companies to do the same.

“The extensive scientific data we obtained from the study kratom, say that the chemical compounds contained in kratom, are opioids and are expected to have the same consequences as a result of abuse, which in some cases can lead to death. In turn, the CDC says that kratom, Also known as Thang, Kakuam, Thom, Ketom and Biak, contains bacteria that provoked a Salmonella outbreak that affected 28 people. They are infected from a common source, they say in the department.

As a result of a salmonella outbreak, 11 people were hospitalized. Eight of them reported using kratom in one form or another (pills, powder or tea). CDC recommended not to use kratom.

In California, 3 cases of salmonella have been recorded, in Ohio, Oregon, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Utah two, in Florida, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan, Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts and North Dakota - one by one.
