In the US, two powerful earthquakes occurred in a row
In North Sloup County, Alaska on August 12 an earthquake of magnitude 6,4 points occurred.
This is the most powerful underground push ever recorded on the territory of this district, writes The New York Times.
The earthquake occurred in 06: 58 local time in 551 km northeast of Fairbanks, the second largest city of Alaska. The epicenter of shocks was at a depth 9,9 km.

A few hours later, another 6 magnitude earthquake struck the same district. The impact was recorded in 13: 15 12 in August 65 kilometers south-west of the town of Kaktovik in the North Slope district.
The 6,4 earthquake, which occurred on Sunday morning, was felt by workers at oil production sites in and around Prudhou Bay.
Alyeska Pipeline stated that the earthquake did not damage the pipeline running through the state. The company noted that at the moment "there are no operational problems" associated with the earthquake, but the pipeline will be checked to ensure that nothing was damaged.
Several residents of the region reported feeling weaker shocks after the main one.
According to the Alaska Earthquake Center, shocks were felt in the eastern part of North Slope, there were no reports of damage or injuries.
The previous strongest earthquake in the North Slope district occurred in 1995 year, then the power of tremors reached 5,2 points.
According to geologists, the jump from 5,2 to 6,4 points is significant, and the seismological potential of the region should not be underestimated, so the authorities should take measures and be prepared for stronger aftershocks in the future.
