US sells commemorative coin in honor of Trump's victory over COVID-19

In the White House Gift Shop online store you can pre-order a commemorative coin “Trump defeated COVID”, writes USA Today.

The $100 “Trump Defeated COVID” Coin is for sale on the website “White House gift shop“, which is not associated with the official administration of the President of the United States.

The coin is part of a series designed by Anthony Giannini, head of the gift shop. He described the coin as the latest in a series illustrating "the rise to power of President Trump and the defeat of the deadly pandemic disease COVID."

“When we heard the sad news that President Trump tested positive for COVID, we turned to faith and prayed, but we knew from the beginning that our President would find a way to knock out COVID in this battle,” Giannini wrote. “President Trump, as you know, is a boxing fan, and the new design includes more than a hint of the superhero qualities of history's most amazing president.”

The commemorative coin was opened for pre-order in the store even before the president was discharged from the hospital.

The coin's sale page states that it will ship to the customer on November 14th. How it will look is still unknown. According to the website, 20% of the proceeds will be donated to COVID-19 prevention and cancer research.

On October 6, Trump was discharged and returned to the White House.

“I feel really good. Don't be afraid of COVID! Don't let him dominate your life,” Trump wrote. “Under the Trump administration, we have developed some really great drugs and knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago."

The president was injected with drugs not available to many Americans, including Regenerone, which was not approved by the FDA, and remdesivir and dexamethasone.

On Monday, October 5, some of Trump's supporters posted messages on social media suggesting the president had "conquered" the virus. Others were less sure. Former Gov. Christine Todd Whitman called the president's decision to leave the hospital "irresponsible" and "shocking."

“While he may not yet be fully recovered, my team and I agree that all of our assessments and, most importantly, his clinical status are in a position to ensure the president's safe return home,” White House physician Sean Conley said at an Oct. 5 briefing. .
