In the United States, a new bill abolishing the citizenship of gang members
A Republican has registered a new bill that repeals the American citizenship of people belonging to gangs, writes Fox News.
Republican Lee Zeldin introduced the bill “Protecting our Communities from Gang Violence Act". This act proposes to revoke the citizenship of people who received it after naturalization but participated in gang activity or were part of one within 10 years after receiving citizenship.
“Naturalization in the United States is a privilege, not a right, and those who receive this privilege must respect and support the laws of our country,” Zeldin said.
Zeldin said that he introduced the bill in response to a series of violent crimes committed by gang members. MS-13 in Long Island, where violent crime has escalated.
In February, Trump commissioned the Ministry of Justice double efforts to combat MS-13 and other international criminal organizations.
Gang MS-13, which was founded by immigrants from Central America in Los Angeles in the 1980-s, became known for its ruthless and violent methods. Most of its founding members fled El Salvador to the United States during a civil war in a country that lasted 12 years.
