Frozen fruit mix recalled in the US: it may be infected with hepatitis A

Some frozen fruit mixes sold at Trader Joe's and Costco have been recalled due to the hepatitis A outbreak. News12.

Scenic Fruit Company of Oregon recalled its organic tropical fruit blend - a product containing pineapple, bananas, strawberries and mango.

The company says consumers can return the product for a refund.

Stores affected

California Splendor shipped recalled products to stores Costco in Los Angeles and Hawaii, and two business centers in San Diego.

Scenic Fruit shipped the recalled products to Costco, Aldi, KeHE, Vital Choice Seafood and PCC Community Markets in certain states, as well as Trader Joe's nationwide.

This is not an exhaustive list of products or stores. The FDA continues to work with firms to identify potential additional product information.

Symptoms of Hepatitis A

The illness usually occurs within 15 to 50 days of ingestion of contaminated food or water. Symptoms of hepatitis A virus infection include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, jaundice, dark urine, and pale stools. In some cases, especially in children under the age of six, hepatitis A infection may be asymptomatic.
