Samsung washing machines recalled in the US: they can catch fire

More than 660 Samsung washing machines sold at Costco and Best Buy recalled over fears they could catch fire, reports TheSun.

Appliances were sold at major retailers including Best Buy, Costco, The Home Depot, and Lowe's, as well as samsung.com. The cars were sold from June 2021 to December 2022, with prices ranging from $900 to $1500.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Samsung has received 51 reports of washing machines smoking, melting, overheating, or on fire.

Of these, 10 resulted in property damage and three consumers reported injuries due to smoke inhalation. Several models of Samsung top-loading appliances with the "super-speed wash" function are subject to product recalls. They were sold in white, black, champagne and ivory and include the WA49B, WA50B, WA51A, WA52A, WA54A and WA55A model lines.

The model number and serial number can be found on the washing machine label affixed to the inside of the top cover. An additional label is located on the back of the machine.

If you have a Samsung washing machine, it is very important to check if the software is up to date in order to prevent danger.

Stop using it immediately until the software is updated. Instructions on how to check if the washing machine software is up to date can be found at Samsung website. All Wi-Fi machines that are connected to a power source and actively connected to the Internet will automatically download the free recovery software.
