US recalls popular carrots due to salmonella contamination

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of 6 products from Grimmway Farms carrots at once due to possible salmonella contamination. The edition told in more detail MSN.

Grimmway Farms, a southern California company that produces 65 carrot products available at retail and in hotels, announced it is recalling six of its carrot products after they were reportedly found to be contaminated with salmonella.

Products such as Bunny Luv Organic Cut and Peeled Baby Carrots, Bunny Luv Organic Premium Petite Carrots, Cal-Organic Organic Petite Carrots, Grimmway Farms Shredded Carrots, O Organics Organic Baby-Cut, and O Organics Organic Baby Rainbow Carrots have been recalled.

“The recall was initiated as a result of routine internal company testing,” Grimmway Farms President and CEO Jeff Huckabee said in a statement. “The health of our customers is our highest priority and we will continue to update as more information becomes available.”

The recalled products were shipped directly to retailers throughout the United States.

In addition to the recalled products, the company also recalled certain shredded carrots and diced carrots that were sold to food manufacturers and food service distributors. All affected companies and individuals were notified that most of the product was recalled before it was made available for consumption.

Grimmway Farms said it notified all customers who received the recalled carrots directly from the company and asked for the information to be passed on to their customers.

“Anyone who has a recalled product should not consume it and should destroy or throw it away. Consumers with questions can contact our customer service team at 1-800-301-3101 or visit www.grimmway.com,” company officials said.
