Popular peanut butter is recalled in the US because it is contaminated with dangerous bacteria

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a statement saying they believe the 12-state Senftenberg Salmonella outbreak is linked to Jif peanut butter products manufactured at the JM Smucker Company facility in Lexington. state of Kentucky.

If consumers have products with lot codes from 1274425 to 2140425, or if the first seven digits end in 425, they should immediately discard peanut butter and thoroughly wash and sanitize anything that may have come into contact with the product, the FDA said.

The batch code can be found on the back of the jar label under the "use by" date.

At least four cases of infection have been reported in people who they said ate Jif peanut butter. So far, no infections have been reported in New Jersey.

Consumers with questions about the recall or who would like to report illness should go to JIF website or call the company at 800-828-9980 Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 17:00 pm. ET.
