Risk of infection with Bacillus cereus
People using the recalled product are at risk of contracting Bacillus cereus bacteria. Application of a contaminated product to a wound can lead to potentially dangerous infections of the skin and soft tissues.
People with normal immunity expect less severe effects. But Bacillus cereus is more dangerous for immunocompromised patients and children. The bacteria can cause "life-threatening invasive infections, including wound and blood infections, sepsis, pneumonia, and meningitis."
