Russian comedian's show canceled in US because of joke about war in Ukraine

Concerts of one of the most famous Russian stand-up artists Nurlan Saburov are canceled in the USA. All because of his “period” joke when, during one of his performances, a girl in a bloody dress ran onto the stage to protest against the war in Ukraine. Writes about it Meduza.

The problems started during his concert in Los Angeles (California) on April 9th. First he was asked: “Children are dying in Ukraine. Why are you silent?”, to which he replied: “Yes, I am a nit. I have a lot of cons. But I'm not a moron. When I see these shots, I don't think that's the way it should be. What are you making of me?"

Another spectator at the same concert asked why Saburov swallowed his tongue. To which the comedian replied: “Yes, bro. I have a family. You have to understand that I have my fears too.” In response, a concert attendee who filmed the dialogue on video called the comedian a "servant of fear" and left the hall.

On April 12, during a concert in Seattle (Washington), the audience began to shout that “it will be like in Los Angeles here, because the Kremlin regime is kept on by pussies like you.”

And already on April 13 in San Francisco (California), a Ukrainian artist ran onto the stage in a bloody white dress and shouted: “Silence is a crime.”

While security was taking the girl off the stage, the comedian joked: “What is this, menstruation?”. The girl was taken out of the hall to the laughter of the audience.

Later, the artist wrote on her Instagram that while the comedian entertains the “endless slaves”, Ukraine bleeds: “After I burst onto the stage like that, the serfs continued to laugh. But a monkey with plates in their brain is immortal. Only a few young people left the hall.”

She called Saburov a "clown" and noted that despite everything that was happening, all tickets for his performances were sold.

After these events, Saburov was criticized in social networks. Among others, the Ukrainian musician Potap (Aleksey Potapenko) also spoke out, calling the comedian a “coward” and a “servant.” And journalist Ksenia Sobchak wrote: “It’s easy to be cool when you smack the five of Nastya Ivleeva” (referring to the show “What happened next?”, In which comedians make fun of the stars).

After all that had happened, Saburov's concerts began to be massively canceled. On April 16, he was supposed to have a concert in Chicago (Illinois), but it was canceled after the appeal of the Consul General of Ukraine in Chicago, Sergei Koledov, as well as the representative of the Illinois branch of the Ukrainian National Congress Pavel Bandrivsky.

At the same time, on Saburov's website, the concert is still listed in the list of scheduled performances. However, it is not among the announcements on the North Shore Center website.

According to public figure and businessman from Ukraine Daniil Tonkopia, now the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States plans to “cancel” Saburov’s other speeches in the country.

“To everyone who reads this, I want to say: act! The whole world is ready to "cancel" Russia and pro-Russian clowns of all stripes. All these Saburovs, Malyshevs, Ovechkins and other propagandists - their pro-Putin views no longer have a place on our planet. Zero tolerance for everyone who is for the Putin regime and those who tacitly support it,” Tonkopiy wrote on Facebook.
