“This is a prophylactic vaccine. The best time to get it is 13 years, the age when a person has not yet had sexual activity. The vaccine protects against nine types of HPV, so if you have one of them, you will still be protected from the rest of the virus, ”said Lois Ramondettta, doctor at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, on The New York Times.
