It is estimated that as a result of a natural disaster caused by a “tectonic time bomb,” as geologists call the fault, about a thousand people may die, and 18 thousands will be wounded.

According to geophysicist Ken Hudnut, due to the destruction of power grids and other communications, massive fires will start, which will destroy about 52 thousands of private houses. The lack of water due to broken pipelines will complicate the work of firefighters, which can aggravate the situation.

According to the script Haywired, which foresees the most devastating earthquake in California history, collapsing buildings could hurt up to 2,5 people, and elevators will trap 22 people.

400 thousands of residents will be forced to leave their homes, and access to clean drinking water will be difficult for six months. 100 thousands more buildings will be unsuitable for use, and 390 thousands will receive serious damage.

According to researchers, the Hayward Fault is much more dangerous than San Andreas - a fault between the Pacific and North American plates 1,3 thousand kilometers long, which runs through the state of California.
