In the United States arrested immigrants from post-Soviet countries who helped Trump in the case against Biden

Foreigners who assisted President Rudi Giuliani's personal lawyer in investigating the activities of Joe and Hunter Biden were arrested. They are accused of financial fraud.

Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman are accused of conspiracy to “circumvent federal laws prohibiting foreign intervention, using the scheme of transferring foreign money to candidates for federal and state posts”, пишет CBS News.

According to prosecutors, Parnassus was born in Ukraine, Fruman - in Belarus.

An American lawyer in New York said at a press conference that Parnassus and Fruman were arrested Wednesday evening, October 9, at Dulles International Airport near Washington.

“This investigation is related to corrupt behavior - a deliberate violation of the law,” said William Sweeney, assistant director of the FBI's New York office.

Business lawyer John Dowd declined to comment on the allegations.

The essence of the charges

Campaign Legal Center, a non-profit organization that strives to comply with campaign finance laws, filed a complaint with the Federal Electoral Commission in July 2018. She called for an investigation and to find out if Parnassus and Fruman violated the law, using a shell company to hide the source of the donation of 325 000 dollars that went to one of the political action committees supporting Trump.

Later, the center also provided confirmation of electronic money transfers, reflecting the movement of funds.

The 22-page indictment contains the findings reached at the Campaign Legal Center. According to the document, Parnassus and Fruman used Global Energy Producers to contribute 325 000 dollars to a special political action committee supporting Donald Trump, and another 15 000 dollars to another political committee. Parnassus also transferred 50 000 dollars for the needs of the Trump campaign in 2016.

Parnassus and Fruman “pursued their personal financial interests and the political interests of at least one Ukrainian government official with whom they worked,” the document says. The name of the Ukrainian politician is not disclosed.

The indictment also alleges that those arrested repeatedly met with a member of Congress to call for the resignation of the US ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Jovanovic.

“Parnas made efforts aimed at recalling the ambassador, at least in part, at the request of one or more Ukrainian officials,” the indictment notes.

The case also includes two more accused - Ukrainian Andrei Kukushkin and US citizen David Correia. Their names are mentioned in the indictment in connection with another illegal campaign donation scheme. Kukushkin was arrested in California, Correia is at large, a spokesman said.

In Ukraine, Zelensky told reporters that he had never met Parnassus or Fruman.

“I have never met these two men. I heard about them, ”Zelensky said during a press conference, adding that he never spoke to them on the phone.
