In New York State, a devastating storm killed two people. VIDEO

On Sunday, June 30, in a region of three states (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) a violent storm broke out, which killed two people. Worst of all had some areas of Long Island.

The most severe weather outbreaks occurred in the western and central parts of Suffolk County, New York, writes ABC7. Sudden storm winds caused trees to fall in Huntington, eastward through Commack, and from Bay Shore, eastward through Oakdale.

The National Meteorological Service reports that no evidence of the rotation of the vortex flow was found, but the damage corresponds to damage that is usually caused by heavy squall winds.

More than 22 000 people are left without electricity. Many residents of the region hoped that the power supply would be restored on Monday morning, July 1, but the clearing of settlements and roads from the effects of the disaster and the restoration of power lines has not yet been completed.

In some regions, the storm caused heavy rain and even large hail, according to the National Meteorological Service.

A woman who swam off the coast of Fire Island, drowned as a result of a rapidly raging storm. Her body, floating near the shore, was noticed by a passer-by and called 911. Witnesses floated the boat and kept the body afloat until the rescuers arrived. Unfortunately, it could not be saved.

Later, the storm moved over Long Island to Connecticut.

The Coast Guard responded to 20 distress alert signals from offshore, 18 people were in the water in life jackets off western Connecticut and Long Island Strait.

54-year-old David Schmerzler died in Fairfield, Connecticut. Around 16: 00 on Sunday, a tree fell on his car at Sturges Highway. His wife Donna received minor injuries, and the adult daughter, who was in the back seat, was not injured.

In Suffolk County, roads have been closed due to fallen trees and dangling power lines. Energy companies are hoping to restore everything by the end of the day on Monday, July 1.
