Sixth-graders in school in Georgia were asked to explain the terms of sexual identity

Lithonia middle school in Georgia, she was faced with the condemnation and discontent of the students' parents after sixth-graders were asked to answer questions about the sexual self-determination of a person.

The health teacher offered sixth grade students a survey based on 10 terms of “sexual identity”, such as gays, lesbians, and transgender people. The survey required children to identify and identify the differences between different variants of a person’s sexual orientation, writes Fox News.

One of the mothers of Octavia Parks was shocked when her 12-year-old daughter came home with this assignment.

“Why do they teach this in school? What does this have to do with life?,” Parks said.

Parks believes that this material is not suitable for study at school, and that her daughter is too young to learn about sexual orientation.

"We are talking about a sixth grader who is still watching the channel Nickelodeon. I’m not ready to explain to her what these words are and what they mean,” Parks said.

The woman recalled a brief conversation with the teacher of the basics of health before this, during which she was assured that the children in the classroom would not consider such topics.

“We had a short conversation and she assured me that this would not happen. Nevertheless, this happened,” Parks complained.

Now she is preparing a document that her daughter did not attend classes on the basics of health. And she is not the only one who made such a decision.

It is not yet clear whether the health basics curriculum that included this topic was approved by the school district, but district officials said they understood the parents' concerns and promised to investigate the incident.
