In Russia, check the legality of the celebration of Halloween

Lawyer Yaroslav Mikhailov appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia and the Prosecutor's Office of the Kirov Region with a demand to check the legality of the celebration of Halloween in Russia.

The supervisory authority reported that this application has already been accepted for consideration.

“According to the Russian Orthodox Church, my opinion, as well as the opinion of a number of public organizations, the celebration of Halloween in Russia violates the current Russian legislation. Halloween is a holiday that is rejected and condemned by religion. In essence, Halloween is the opposite of saints and religion. The ritual of entering the image of evil through costumes and make-up, the ritual of begging for sweets (dressing evil), the ritual of nightly dancing is, in fact, madness, ”said Mikhailov.

According to the lawyer, the widespread celebration of All Saints Day in public places grossly violates the current legislation of Russia, and therefore should be prohibited.

He stressed that Halloween is a pagan (religious) trend that takes place on the territory of Russia. So, its celebration falls under the provisions of Art. 24.2. "The order of missionary activity" (Federal Law №125-ФЗ 1997 of the Year).

He added that in Russia there should be religious associations responsible for holding this holiday, as well as specially designated places for the celebration of Halloween rites.

This request to ban Halloween celebrations is not the first. A year earlier, a State Duma deputy proposed to permanently ban the “sabbath” due to wreck A321.

According to him, the celebration of Halloween should be banned both on October 30, on the eve of the Day of the Victims of Political Repression, and on October 31, when a Russian plane crashed in Egypt carrying the 224 man.
