Russian America for Democracy in Russia recognized as 'undesirable' in Russia

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office announced the recognition of the activities of the American organization Russian America for Democracy in Russia as “undesirable” on the territory of the country, said Russian State Duma deputy Andrei Lugovoi. Writes about this Meduza.

In his Telegram channel, the deputy emphasized that this decision was made in response to his official appeal.

The official website of Russian America for Democracy in Russia notes that this organization unites Russian citizens in the United States who oppose wars started by the Russian Federation and express support for freedom and democracy in Russia.

The organization, among other things, raises funds to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and citizens of Ukraine, and also implements a project called “Anti-propaganda”, the purpose of which is to uncover the events surrounding the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its consequences for Russians.

However, Lugovoi described the organization as “a clone of the extremist Anti-Corruption Foundation.”

“The goal of the organization is to create a protest force in Russia to dismember the country, to prepare a campaign to transfer power to foreign invaders. The idea and finances of the project are the US State Department, and the executors are fugitive traitors,” the deputy said.

From the letter from the Prosecutor General’s Office posted by Lugovoi, it follows that the official decision to recognize the organization as “undesirable” was made on November 24.

In Russia, there has been a list of “undesirable” organizations since 2015, including more than 120 organizations. According to Russian law, interaction with such organizations entails legal liability, including possible imprisonment.
