On the monument to Russian footballers who beat the Germans in 1943, Messi was depicted

In Russia, in the Krasnodar Territory, the authorities of the city of Vityazevo erected a monument in honor of local footballers who beat the Germans in 1943. For unknown reasons, it depicts the Barcelona striker, Argentine Lionel Messi, writes the publication Znak.

Funds for the monument were collected by football relatives and local residents. The text and the names of the heroes were brought on a piece of paper to the manufacturer of a memorial stone, asked to make an image of a football player. As a result, the names of the heroes of the match turned out to be confused, spelling and factual mistakes were made. A few days later, the errors were corrected and the memorial was replaced, but the image of Messi remained.

It is noted that in the text of the technical task there was no clear indication of what kind of football player should be depicted.

Edition TVNZ told the match story. Shel 1943 year. An occupation. Vityazevo is occupied by Romanian and German units. During this period, the highest German command already understood that the war was not turning in their favor. Therefore, their advantage was shown as they could.

11 guys age from 16 to 20 years. For various reasons, they did not go to the front. Stayed in their native village. The Germans then dreamed of defeating the Soviets, if not in the war, at least at the stadium, so they organized that football tournament.

Three teams: the national team of Germany, Romania and the North Caucasus (as they called the yard players). At the direction of the German commandant, the area near the Vityaz church was cleared, and a football field was organized on this territory, and on the north side a huge grandstand.

In the first round, Russian guys and Romanians played, the Russians then won with a crushing score of 6:2. The Germans were not pleased with this outcome. The Vityazev football players were warned: “If you try to win, you will be shot, if you lose, you will live.”

The next match was between the teams of Romania and Germany, his Germans won with a 3: 0 score. On the game with the "team of the North Caucasus," the Germans came out in high spirits, they were confident that they would win.

The residents of the village and the officers of the invaders gathered for the match. There are more 500 people.

It's June, and it's stiflingly hot outside. The situation was also heated by armed soldiers with dogs along the entire perimeter of the stadium.

In the first half, the Nazis won. The Russians were afraid of death, nothing can be done about it, to all other judicial arbitrariness, rough game and violation of all possible rules by the German national team. The result of the first half 3: 1 is not in favor of the Vityazevsky guys.

What happened during the break, we will never know. But in the second half, the situation on the field has changed dramatically. At first, the Germans brought the score to 4: 1 with a fake penalty, but that was the end of their advantage.

Five minutes before the final whistle, the Vityazevskys guys tied the score with 4: 4. Tribunes were buzzing, the people no longer felt fear, because the victory, albeit a sport one, was so close. A few seconds before the final whistle, the score becomes 5: 4 - in favor of the “North Caucasus team”.

The winners were not shot, they were offered another play, the Germans won the second game, but they lost the third match again.

To deal with rivals the Nazis did not have time. The rapid advance of the 18 Army threw the enemy far away.
