Several people died in Oregon during hostage rescue operation

On Monday, September 28, several people were killed in shooting involving a police officer at a home in East Salem, Oregon.
Marion County Sheriff's Office deputies reacted to the "possible hostage situation" at about 12:30 pm. Negotiators from the sheriff's office reported that an unknown person allegedly took other people in the house hostage.
“As the incident developed, shots rang out. In the end, during this incident, there were several deaths, including the suspect, "- said in Sheriff's office message.
The police were not injured.

Officials declined to provide information on how many people were killed, who killed them, and details of the events that led to the situation.
Sergeant Jeremy Landers, a sheriff's spokesman, declined to disclose any information about those killed until their family members were notified.
During the investigation, the road was closed for several hours. It was reopened around 17:30.
All police officers involved in the shooting will be sent on administrative leave during the investigation, as stipulated by the protocol, officials said.
The authorities said there was no danger to local residents. The investigation is being conducted by the Salem Police and the Oregon State Police.
