The revolving restaurant Rainbow Room has reopened in New York
The legendary establishment, located on the top floor of one of the high-rise buildings in downtown New York, reopened its doors this week.
The chic Rainbow Room restaurant on the 65 floor of the famous Rockefeller Center has been closed for five years. Disputes between the company that owns the premises and the tenants caused it to close in 2009.
Last year, the owner of the premises signed a contract with the new tenant, who promised to reconstruct the restaurant and modernize it according to the latest technology and style.
In 2013, it was announced that the Rainbow Room would open in 2014. Repair and design of the unique premises took several months.
The main feature of the institution is that its stage in the center of the hall, where the musicians perform, rotates. Visitors listen to live music, sitting at cozy tables around the stage, and admire the stunning views of New York outside the windows.
The windows in the new restaurant after the reconstruction have become larger than before. It also has a new bar SixtyFive, which promises to please guests with delicious cocktails.
For the first time, the Rainbow Room appeared in front of New Yorkers and tourists in 1934 a year ago, making a splash. For a long time it remained the highest restaurant in the USA. Now after the 5-year break, it is again open to guests.
At the gala dinner, which marked the opening of the restaurant, more than 200 people came, including celebrities and restaurant critics.
According to the Rainbow Room website, it is recommended to reserve tables for two months. The cost of meals starts from 50 dollars. The restaurant also holds weddings and other celebrations.
