In New York, toxic chemicals were found in plumbing systems, according to a nonprofit organization study. Environmental working group. The study states that six different pollutants were found in the plumbing system that could trigger cancer. None of these toxins, which include chloroform, bromodichloromethane and dichloroacetic acid, exceeds the permissible limits, but, nevertheless, creates health risks for New Yorkers.
For example, the permissible level of chloroform is one part per billion, which, according to the EWG, is the risk of developing cancer, which is one chance out of a million. The level of this chemical in New York water is 30,9 parts per billion, so this is a matter of some concern.
