Witnesses told in social networks that the yellow taxi and the gray sedan collided on 21 West Street and Eighth Avenue. As a result, a gray car flew into the grocery store, located on the corner. The police on the spot said they were investigating whether one of the drivers was driving at a red light.
A total of six people were injured, three of them - serious. Among the five affected pedestrians was a 56-year-old mother with an 13-year-old son; 62-year-old; 41-year-old. 28-year-old gray car driver was also injured.
Witness Farid Williamson calculated that the car hit the store at a speed of about 25-30 miles / hour (40,2-48,2 km / hour).
In the video, taken immediately after the accident, it is clear that the gray sedan is inside the store among the broken glass; the woman was pressed to the hood of the car, while others supported and reassured her while waiting for the rescue service.

“We saw a lady, it’s very scary,” he said in a conversation with a reporter News News Ahmed Abdelhafez.
The firefighters, the EMS and the police quickly cleared the scene of the accident to get the wrecked car out of the building and reach the injured woman.
Several witnesses say in Twitterthat the pinned woman was carried away on a stretcher and she raised her thumb up (this gesture means that everything is in order). Other victims were also hospitalized, some had blood on their heads.
Candell Leon was among the wounded. He bought something at the grocery store and said that there was no time to run away from the car.
“I heard the sound of glass breaking, a car ramming a storefront, and I backed away and everything was just flying,” Leon said.
The investigation continues. At the time of this writing, none of the drivers involved in this incident were arrested.
FDNY worked to strengthen the building and prevent destruction. The city’s buildings department also assessed the damage.
