In New York, a boy saved a friend, and he died.
An 11-year-old boy died after pushing a friend to a safe place, when the ice on which they stood fell through, writes NBC News.
According to police, Anthony Perez died after falling through the ice Strack pond what in Forest Park, about 16 hours.
Rescuers said that he, along with another child during the game went on the ice in 15 meters from the shore, despite the warnings of danger.
The police said that during the fall he pushed the other child to a safe place. Then his friend ran home for help.
“I consider him a hero,” said neighbor Carmen Rivera.
When the firemen found the boy, he was quickly taken to the land, where several other rescuers were already waiting for them.
Authorities said the boy was sent to Jamaica hospital in critical condition. During the rescue operation, he did not breathe, he was given an indirect massage of the lungs, and later stated death.
The pond has warning signs that the ice is not thick enough to support a person’s weight.
