The third Russian-language LGBT parade took place in New York: photo report

Participants in the Russian LGBT Pride advocated an end to discrimination, homophobia, racism and xenophobia in the Russian-speaking community of America and for equal rights for all, said in the official website events and Facebook pages.

Over the years, New York has been a friendly meet people from post-Soviet countries who are trying to avoid reprisals. Brighton Beach has become the center of attraction for all those who are looking for an opportunity to establish links with the Russian-speaking community, is marked on the official page of the event. Unfortunately, Brighton Beach and other areas that attract Russian-speaking immigrants remain fairly homophobic and transphobic. Every day, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer people (LGBTIK) face discrimination in their homes, workplaces, and medical facilities. Many of the members of this community are also subject to physical and verbal abuse. Their concern about immigration status significantly increases the problems of an already vulnerable community. Many LGBT members from the countries of the former Soviet Union emigrate to the United States as political refugees in order to avoid persecution, and anti-immigration policies and rhetoric threaten their security here, the site says.

Among the goals of the Brighton Beach-Pride, the organizers point out a desire to build a bridge connecting generations and various social groups, to develop positive good-neighborly relations based on acceptance, dialogue and interaction, to break the silence within the Russian-speaking community, to convey the concerns of LGBTIQ groups to elected officials and urban demand equal rights for all people regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, race, religion or immigration atus. A separate point the organizers of the parade note the need to speak out against the genocide and persecution of LGBTIK people in the Chechen Republic in Russia, as well as police brutality in post-Soviet countries.

Brighton Beach's third LGBT pride timed to coincide with the 50 anniversary of the Stonewall riots. (a series of riots and spontaneous demonstrations against a police raid that began on the night of June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn gay bar on Christopher Street - Wikipedia).
