In New York, a firefighter saved a child forgotten in a car by breaking a window with a hammer

Firefighter Matthew Clinton of New York, NY on Thursday, 8 August, rescued a child from a red-hot car, breaking a car window with a hammer. The child was locked and forgotten by his father. Writes about it New York Post.

“I was there at just the right time. It was very hot in the car,” Matthew Clinton said.

Clinton, who also teaches at the Fire Academy, was with two students near College Point when they saw an 5-year-old boy who was sitting in a car seat inside the car.

“As we walked into the parking lot, we noticed an unattended child,” Clinton recalled, noting how the boy was crying and sweating profusely.

Having made a quick decision, the firefighter asked a group of people gathered for some heavy object to knock out a window.

“A man came and handed me a hammer,” Clinton said.

After breaking the glass, Clinton and the others pulled out the boy and tried to calm him down until New York police arrived.

“The police showed up shortly after I broke the window and a short time later my dad came out into the parking lot. He looked very worried,” the firefighter said.

Police arrested a man, 42-year-old Jeremy Ram, and accused him of actions dangerous to the child.

Xanax, a tranquilizing substance, was found in his father; he was also accused of storing it.

According to the data, last year in the United States more than 50 children died unattended in incandescent cars.

The organization says Thursday and Friday are the most common days for children to die.
