New York opened registration at Obamacare: what you need to know

In the state of New York opened a registration for health insurance program Obamacare (Affordable Care Act) in 2019 year. If you need medical insurance or you want to choose a new insurance plan, it's time to apply.

During the registration period, the GetCoveredNYC program, which is responsible for the medical insurance of New York City residents, will expand its work to connect with more than 100 000 uninsured residents of New York, and provide free personal assistance in choosing insurance in more than 12 languages, the message says Press Service of the City Hall of New York.

Registration to Obamacare in the state is open from November 1 2018 of the year to January 31 of the year 2019. New Yorkers who are not yet insured can register now, and people who already have insurance for 2018 a year can renew their health insurance plans from November 16. Consumers must register for the medical insurance program or extend the existing plan to December 15 2018, if they want their insurance coverage to be valid from January 1 2019.

GetCoveredNYC conducts consultations in several languages, and also has planned thematic events in different parts of New York. Residents of the city can also receive free assistance in registering for medical insurance by calling 311 or by visiting nyc.gov/GetCoveredNYC.

This year, the city launched a new health insurance enrollment site at the Astoria Health Center (12-26 31st Avenue, 2nd Floor, Astoria, NY 11106), open Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 15 p.m.: thirty.

In addition, several other registration centers will operate during additional hours:

• Chelsea Health Center (303 Ninth Ave., 1st Fl): open on Saturdays from 9: 00 to 12: 00, particularly on Saturdays on November 17, December 8 and 15.
• Jamaica Health Center (90-37 Parsons Blvd, 4th Fl): open on some Saturdays from 9: 00 to 14: 00, especially on Saturdays on 10 in November, 8 in December, 12 in January and 26 in January.
• Bushwick Health Center (335 Central Ave., 1st Fl): open on Saturdays from 9: 00 to 15: 00, particularly on Saturdays 3 November, 17 November, 1 January, and 15 January. In addition, in this center, some Mondays extended working hours to 18: 00, in particular 5 and 19 in November, 3 and 17 in December, 14 and 28 in January.
