In New York, the mother is accused of killing a child who swallowed the drug
The mother of a one-year-old boy from the Bronx, who died in December 2018 after using heroin and fentanyl, was arrested for murder.
23-year-old Dayra Santana-Gonzales was arrested on charges of second-degree murder.
Police say that one-year-old Darwin Gonzalez-Santana found 27 in December 2018, unconscious in a car near 1880 University Place.

He was given artificial respiration and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The child had no obvious signs of injury. In March, the police considered the death a murder after a forensic scientist discovered traces of drugs in the boy's body.
Police say a large amount of heroin, cocaine and fentanyl have also been found in the child’s home.
