New Jersey Hits Fourth Biggest Jackpot in History

Richard Wal, who just moved to New Jersey from Michigan, won the biggest jackpot Mega Millions in the history of New Jersey.

The only winning ticket with a jackpot was bought by 30 March, at Lukoil station in Riverdale. Winning numbers were 11, 28, 31, 46, 59 and Mega Ball 1.

When Wal saw the winning numbers in his ticket after the draw, he did not believe his eyes. Then Wal woke up his wife, and the two of them checked the numbers at least 15 times. Only the next morning, the lottery management announced that the lucky one had hit the jackpot.

The man did not want to talk about his family at a press conference, telling reporters that he wanted to protect his personal life and would prefer to remain anonymous if he had a choice (the New Jersey state lottery does not allow this).

Now the lucky ones are planning to hire a financial advisor and figure out how best to deal with their money. Wahl says his priority is to help friends and family both in the United States and abroad. His wife is from Mexico. “We really want to help her family in Mexico,” he said.

Station owner Amir Karas reported News 4, that people call and stop to congratulate him after the lucky ticket was sold at this gas station.

If the winner broke the payouts on 29 years, he would end up with $ 533 million. Wal said he chose the option of cash - after tax, it is about $ 317 million.

Lottery representatives say it was the fourth largest jackpot in history Mega Millions and the biggest winning jackpot ticket ever sold in New Jersey.

Mega Millions are sold in 44 states plus Washington, DC, and the US Virgin Islands. The odds of winning are one to 303 millions.

According to polls, Americans would react differently to winning a multi-million jackpot:

• 74,8% of respondents would take the entire amount at once, 25,2% would divide the amount into several annual payments.
• 43,4% of respondents would immediately claim winnings, 56,6% would wait some time before announcing winnings.
• 80,1% of respondents would consult about options for investing money with a lawyer / accountant / financial advisor, 19,9% would decide the fate of the win.
• 90,7% would prefer to remain anonymous in the event of a win, 9,3% would publicly announce a win.
• 48,1% of respondents would have quit their jobs if they won; 51.9% would continue to work.
• 63,6% would hire a financial advisor to manage the money, 36,2% would manage the finances on their own.
